This postage stamp is over 120 years old and was issued in 1898 at the Trans Mississippi Expo in Omaha, Nebraska.

It commemorates the great westward migration of the United States. On it is a herd of cattle in a dust storm. Ears of corn frame the sides of the design.

It’s part of a larger set of stamps, each depicting a unique scene of the westward migration, with one even depicting a dead horse.

It had a postal value of $1, which equals $30 in today’s money. They printed less of them, making them more rare. According to the Scott Stamp Catalog, this stamp is worth $1,500.

Scott is the go to value guide for all United States stamp collectors. You can find this stamp for sale on websites like eBay.

Stamp collectors have often referred to this stamp as the most beautiful stamp the United States has ever produced. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
