Researching old family post card collection early 20th century. Came across this one dated Nov 25th 1908. I know nothing about border length or watermarks but found a similar photo online that looks like what was described in the literature as a Ben Franklin Scott #316. I’ll attach photo’s if anyone can advise me on whether this is just a common stamp or a more desirable rarity. We have hundreds of stamped post cards to my grandmother mostly with a variety of 1 cent stamps, it was with curiosity I stumbled across this one. Thanks for any feedback.
This is a common Scott #300 fully perforated on all sides. It has no value. #316 is a coil stamp with straight edges on the left and right sides. This stamp can easily be faked, even on cover, by trimming the perforations on the left and right sides. A certificate of authenticity is required to buy or sell a Scott #316.
