I recently used Google Images to identify a variety of foreign stamps. Take a picture with your phone and upload the image of the stamp. Google Images located and identified every stamp that I uploaded. Wonderful tool for your purpose.
Yes Google images is a handy tool. However you have to be cautious of the source, as there are tons of misidentified stamps floating all across the web.

@ryanjoneson I agree with you. Once I know the country I pull out my Scott’s catalogs and verify the stamp and Scott’s number. Google Images is a great tool but we need the catalogs to take it from there.
