On June 9, 2026, the U.S. Postal Service released a single pane of 13 Forever stamps — a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) sheet that celebrates the nation’s 250th. Ralph Lauren selected the images for this set from his own archive and from things that have influenced his work. The pane goes on sale nationwide that day in New York, NY, and retailers are not allowed to sell or postmark the stamps before the official first-day event. The pane is intended to be sold intact; individual stamps from the sheet aren’t to be broken out for separate sale.
### What’s On The Pane
Ralph Lauren chose pictures meant to feel familiar rather than literal portraits. The 13 images include:
– A U.S. flag set against a rural landscape
– The well-worn baseball glove used by Jackie Robinson
– A classic teddy bear
– A pickup truck
– A dog
– The Empire State Building
– A barn
– A sailboat
– A Diné (Navajo) blanket
– A lighthouse
– A hamburger
– Wild horses
– A knitted U.S. flag
Text printed on the back of the pane points out which images are shown on the 12 stamps that surround the center flag. Greg Breeding was the art director for the issue.
## How Post Offices Will Receive Stock
Stamp Fulfillment Services will push an initial shipment to post offices sized to cover about a month of expected sales. Local offices can review or place supplemental orders through the Postal Service’s online fulfillment system in advance of the issue date. Offices should check what they’ll automatically receive and order additional panes if they want extras.
### Retail Restrictions And Handling
This commemorative pane must be kept whole for retail sale, and it cannot be canceled or otherwise processed before the formal first-day. Retail clerks will need to honor those conditions when displaying or selling the pane.
## Pictorial And First-Day Postmark Options
There are a few ways collectors can get these stamps postmarked for their collections: special pictorial postmarks for local dedications, the official first-day-of-issue cancel, traditional black-and-white cancels by mail, and a limited digital color postmark service.
#### Pictorial Postmark Rules For Dedication Events
If you plan a local dedication, the Postal Service allows only one specific pictorial postmark artwork for this issue. Your artwork must include the words “Station” or “STA” somewhere, since the cancel will be used at a temporary station. Event organizers must insert the event date, city, state, and ZIP code next to the stamp image when finalizing the design. The overall size of the pictorial cancel can’t be larger than 4 inches wide by 2 inches tall; many collectors prefer a 3½ by 1-inch layout for best appearance. To have a pictorial cancel printed for an event, Stamp Services requires advance notice — report the dedication about four weeks before it takes place using the Postal Service’s pictorial postmark announcement form (PS Form 413).
#### Ordering The Official First-Day-Of-Issue Postmark
The official first-day postmark marks the date a stamp issue is authorized. You can request this service by mail for up to 120 days after the issue date; for these stamps the deadline for mailed postmark requests is October 9, 2026. Send your items, and indicate whether you want the traditional black-and-white cancel or the digital color version, to:
FDOI — American Icons Stamps
USPS Stamp Fulfillment Services
8300 NE Underground Drive, Suite 300

#### Traditional Black-And-White Postmarks By Mail
Buy new stamps at a post office or online, affix them to your chosen envelopes, address them (to yourself or someone else), enclose those addressed envelopes in a larger mailing envelope, and send to the FDOI address above. The Postal Service will apply the first-day cancel and return the items by mail. There’s no fee for up to 50 envelopes; after that there’s a nominal charge of 5 cents per additional cancel. If you’re sending non-standard items or memorabilia for cancellation, include return postage and suitable packaging, or provide contact/payment instructions in case additional return shipping costs apply.
#### Digital Color Postmarks — What Collectors Need To Know
Not every issue offers a color postmark, and when available the service has specific rules. Color cancels can only be applied to paper envelopes; the Postal Service recommends #6 or #10 envelopes made from “laser-safe” paper. Recommended stock is 80-pound Accent Opaque, acid-free, with 9/16-inch side seams and no glue on the flap. Don’t use self-adhesive address labels — they can interfere with the imaging equipment. Also include two test envelopes with your order. There is a 50-cent fee per digital color postmark at processing. If nonstandard cachets or hand-painted envelopes are likely to cause problems with the equipment, the Postal Service may substitute the traditional black cancel or refuse the item.
## Fees, Packaging, And Return Mail
For both black-and-white and digital cancels, make sure your envelopes are addressed for return to you (or enclose a self-addressed return envelope with sufficient postage). If you order more than the included free quantity, or if special return shipping is needed, be prepared to pay by check, money order, or credit card. For black-and-white first-day cancels, the free threshold is 50 items; anything beyond that carries the small additional per-item charge. For color cancels the 50-cent fee applies up front.
## First-Day Covers And Official Collectible Items
The Postal Service sells official first-day covers and other philatelic merchandise through its catalog and online store. Only items approved and assigned item numbers by headquarters may be produced and marketed as official first-day merchandise; local or unofficial first-day covers aren’t authorized for retail sale as official products. You can register to receive the USA Philatelic catalog to see item numbers and descriptions.

Measurements are precise: two stamp orientations appear in the pane. One vertical image area measures 1.0850 x 1.4200 inches, with overall size 1.2250 x 1.5600 inches. The square format measures 1.6800 x 1.6800 inches image area, with an overall size of 1.8200 x 1.8200 inches. The full pane is 7.8200 x 9.7800 inches; press sheets are roughly 19.6850 x 23.7100 inches.
## Who Worked On The Project
Greg Breeding handled art direction. The pane pulls from photographs and artwork by several contributors, including Matt Albiani, Valentina Cantera, Gilles de Chabaneix, Miguel Flores-Vianna, Naiomi Glasses, Tim Holmes, Kurt Markus, Carter Berg, and Mary Randolph Carter. Modelers Sandra Lane and Michelle Finn are credited on the production. The back of the pane identifies these contributors and the imagery.
## Tips For Collectors And Dealers
If you plan to collect the pane intact, keep it in the sleeve it ships in or place it in a clear archival-quality cover to avoid bending and to prevent gum transfer. Pressure-sensitive stamps can be vulnerable to heat and humidity; store the pane flat in a cool, dry place. If you’re preparing envelopes for a first-day cancel, write addresses neatly and avoid adhesives that might gum up processing equipment. For digital color cancels, run a small test batch first — the Postal Service asks for two test envelopes because registration problems or unsuitable materials can force a substitution to black-and-white cancels.
## Ordering Information And Item Number
The pane is sold under item number 582400 and is priced at the First-Class Mail Forever rate. Post offices and collectors will be able to purchase the pane starting June 9, 2026. If you use the Postal Service’s fulfillment system to place pre-orders, review your automatic distribution allotment so you don’t end up short for a local release day — some offices find the push distribution doesn’t match demand after the first weekend of sales.
#### Collecting Context
This pane has immediate appeal to people who collect Americana themes, designer-curated issues, and those who assemble topical collections — flags, transportation, food, architecture, and Native American textiles are all represented. The Ralph Lauren connection gives it crossover interest to fashion-minded collectors and those who follow brand-related philatelic releases. For exhibitors, the pane’s mix of vernacular objects and iconic architecture provides opportunities to craft a show frame around “American Everyday Objects” or “Material Culture of the United States.” Keep in mind that many thematic collectors prefer intact panes, so demand for whole sheets may exceed the market for single stamp sales. Be prepared to price items accordingly if you plan to sell or trade. Watch the early postmark activity; early first-day covers and unique pictorial cancels can be the most sought-after items in the weeks after issue. A small note: some local shows report that specific pictorial cancels become popular quickly, so get reservation forms in early to avoid disappointment.
